Default article settings
  • Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article.
  • Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
  • Allow people to post comments on new articles (These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)
Other comment settings
  • Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
  • Users must be registered and logged in to comment
  • Automatically close comments on articles older than 14 days
  • Enable threaded (nested) comments levels deep
  • Break comments into pages with 50 top level comments per page and the page displayed by default
  • Comments should be displayed with the comments at the top of each page
E-mail me whenever
  • Anyone posts a comment
  • A comment is held for moderation
Before a comment appears
  • An administrator must always approve the comment
  • Comment author must have a previously approved comment
Comment Moderation Here you call tell WordPress how to handle comments based on:

  • number of hyperlinks
  • words found in the comment
  • name
  • URL
  • e-mail address
  • IP
Comment Blacklist Same as comment moderation, but this will prevent any of the offending items from being put into comment moderation as it will mark the comment as spam automatically
Avatars You can allow your commenters, authors or contributors to show an icon next to their posts.Check the box to show avatars – leave unchecked to disallowIf you allow avatars, you can choose a rating for them (similar to movie ratings) and you can choose a default style if the commenter/author/contributors email address is not tied to an image in their accountYou can register for a free account at and choose an image to correspond to any of your email addresses
