This is one of my absolute favourite breads from our bread machine cookbook. It’s made with molasses and cornmeal, giving the bread a bit of a nutty flavour and a great texture!
The recipe below is from “Canada’s Best Bread Machine Baking Recipes” by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt.
New England Anadama Bread
- Bread machine
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup skim milk powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tbsp shortening
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose white flour
- 1/2 cup cornmeal
- 1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast
- Measure ingredients and add to baking pan in the order above
- Select Basic Cycle
